Adaptation with Anastasia Samoylova

What a treat to sit down with Anastasia Samoylova, Commissioner Season Five artist, to chat about her latest book Adaptation at Dalé Zine. A Miami Art Week getty and signing, we talked about what it means to adapt and observe, and Anastasia’s own creative journey from Russia to the U.S. and Peoria to Miami over decades.

In her words, “As artists, our role is to capture the tensions and paradoxical realities we witness. With my formal training, I approach each subject as a documentary photographer, yet ultimately, every image is subjective, offering a distinct point of view.”

Visit Dalé Zine in the Miami Design District for your copy of Adaptation by Anastasia Samoylova. Spanning six bodies of work, the publication offers an extraordinary retrospective of the artist’s photography, painting and collage with insightful essays by a range of thinkers.
