We’re thrilled that Loni Johnson is the recipient of the fourth and final commission of Season Six. Born and raised in Miami, Loni is an artist, educator, mother, and activist. She believes that artists have a cyclical obligation to give back and that her creative gift must be used to better society. We couldn’t agree more.
Throughout this season, we’ve delved into the realms of magic, imagination, and storytelling. Beatriz Monteavaro's fantastical drawings, Germane Barnes's conceptual collages, and Joel Gaitan's revisionist ceramics share one thing in common—a desire to explore the world in all its possibilities and alternatives. It is only fitting to celebrate this beautiful voyage with Loni, who pulls from the ancestral past, present, and future in her social practice.
Join us for a bonafide block party in the back lot of Locust Projects with music, food, drinks, and a special performance by the artist.
Collectors: If you can’t attend Loni’s reveal, please contact us to arrange for your artwork to be delivered before the event. Our offices are closed for most of the summer, so your support in coordinating with a courier helps make things easy and breezy.
