Let’s get to know each other over bubbles, water lilies, and a natural dye workshop with artist Diana Eusebio on Sunday, September 29, at 1:30 PM at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
Every fall, we kick off Commissioner with a creative orientation. From understanding the program’s origins and mission to what you can expect throughout the season, we’ll provide essential information to help you get the most from your membership. Both education and social, it’s also the ideal opportunity to ask questions and connect with fellow members and our team.
Then, guiding the artmaking portion of our gathering, Diana will lead an interactive workshop. Peruvian-Dominican and based in Miami, she researches natural dyed textiles from Indigenous Latin American and Afro-Caribbean traditions, and connects ancestral practice with modern techniques. Diana is affectionately known to bring others into her textile practice through her hands-on natural dye workshops. Rooting us in memory and process, we’ll learn about the beauty of the indigo plant and will dye fabric. Almost everything you need—including a cotton tote bag to make all your own—will be provided.
