Remembrance is resistance. Honoring victims of gun violence and their families, join artists, activists, leaders and truth-tellers Chire Regans and Loni Johnson for 3:33 A Procession (Reprise) .
Gather in the garden at Bakehouse Art Complex on Saturday, December 4 at 3:33 PM for an intimate performance by Johnson, whose use of movement, iconography and ritual imbues a sacred space of connection and release. Together with "VantaBlack" Regans, the artists will lead us in remembrance and ceremony, holding vital space for grief, loss, love and joy.
Free and open to all. RSVP here.
3:33 | Procession (Reprise) is an extension of A Reflection of the Times, a memorial exhibition of portraiture currently on view at the space that underscores the ways in which activist art exists as a site of resistance and embodies a social justice framework.
The exhibition and accompanying publication have been commissioned by Commissioner in partnership with New World School of the Arts, and curated by Women Artists Archive Miami. We gratefully acknowledge Chris Adamo and Randi Wolfson, Cathy Leff, Laura Novoa, Mariana Pariani, Sirena Saul, Franklin Sirmans, Paperwater, Primary, Richard Guzman Law, Mitchell Wolfson Sr Foundation, and the Commissioner team and member community for making this initiative possible. A Reflection of the Times runs through December 2021.
