PLAY, LAY, AYE: ACT 6 by GeoVanna Gonzalez at Untitled Art Fair
Commissioner and Chief partner to support women artists DURING MIAMI ART WEEK.
We’re thrilled to announce that GeoVanna Gonzalez’s PLAY, LAY, AYE: ACT 6, an installation performance, will take place in an all-new iteration on Friday, December 8 at 5 PM at Untitled Art on the sands of Miami Beach. Featuring movement artists Maria Burt and Alondra Balbuena, poet Arsimmer McCoy, musician Claudens Louis, and more, this edition is laid out as a platform to navigate movement as a form of political action, and will examine what it means to be seen and occupy space. The performance is free and open to the public.
PLAY, LAY, AYE: ACT 6 is commissioned by Commissioner, in partnership with Chief—a national membership network for leading women executives. In celebration, a private member reception at the Untitled Art VIP Lounge will follow.
Programming continues with the panel conversation “Performance Architecture: Taking up Space” on Saturday, December 9 at 2:30 PM at The Untitled Podcast Lounge. In this discussion, the assembled panelists will examine the intricate dynamics of both private and public spaces, scrutinizing them through the nuanced perspectives of gender, race, status, or other marginalized dimensions.

SeTTING the Intention with um center for global black studies
Earlier this year in September, the extraordinary ordinariness of an approaching sunset on the verge of a rainstorm provided the backdrop for the opening of Still Here: Generations of Black Miami Artmaking, presented by the Center for Global Black Studies in collaboration with Commissioner. Gonzalez’s PLAY, LAY, AYE: ACT 5 set the stage for a night of thought-provoking and enriching discussions.
Gathered around a family-style dinner table, more than 30 participating artists and speakers of the inaugural Still Here convening delved into meaningful intergenerational conversations. Hosted in partnership with Soho Pool House and Untitled Art—the leading independent fair during Miami Art Week—the program also set an intention to make visible the long history of Black artmaking in this city. Full circle, we are so proud to be expanding the platform for GeoVanna’s work with the commission of PLAY, LAY, AYE: ACT 6 at Untitled Art during Miami Art Week.
