Commissioner Turns Three

Season_03_launches_Today_STORY.jpeg

Commissioner is reimagining arts patronage with a thoughtful, collaborative and accessible approach. We offer programming that help members develop the knowledge and meaningful relationships to confidently build their collection. Members also become part of a community reimagining how artists are supported, and building a vibrant ecosystem invested in the arts and in our city.

If you’re new to Commissioner, you can join in two ways: as a Patron or as a Collector. Patrons are invited to events almost every month that center on learning and meeting artists, experts and other aspiring collectors. This is the perfect level if you just want to get your feet wet, and if $75-$100/annually is a better fit at this time. As a Patron, you set your own pace, and can save for that one piece that you’ve always wanted.

Collector members receive all Patron benefits, plus original, limited edition works of art every quarter by some of the most gifted artists in Miami. Previous commissions include unique collages by Typoe, photography by Adler Guerrier and Johanne Rahaman, a digital diptych by Jamilah Sabur, and sculpture by Kelly Breez, A.G., Juan Pablo Garza, Gavin Perry and Susan Lee-Chun. Membership is $1,500/annually or $500/quarterly, and directly supports artist commissions and the creation of new work. You’ll also be invited to tour homes and participate in intimate—and physically distanced—experiences that deepen how we think about living with art.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that there’s strength in numbers and your village is your power. Support the ideas that align with your values; introduce your circle to the artists and artworks that bring you joy; and help uplift artists early in their careers.

The future of arts patronage is a collaborative, community-led effort. Join us here.

IMPACT BY NUMBERS

In a short two years, through the support of members and partners, Commissioner has disbursed over $100K in artist commissions, commissioned more than 13 artists and projects, and placed 360+ works in the hands of mostly first-time and novice collectors. Commissioner has inspired lots to happen outside the program, too: new art purchases, pop-up galleries and artist/community dinners all unprompted and self-initiated by members.
