Season Six is Now Open for Enrollment

Memberships are now open to join SEASON SIX as a Collector or Patron. HERE’S THE RUNDOWN.

Five years into Commissioner, we have together built something that extends beyond any single event, object, or person. Launched in 2018 to help locals connect with contemporary artists in their cities, we explore new pathways to support artists and participate in the collecting process as a community through collaboration and our collective power.

As we open enrollment for Season Six, we’re honored to extend our sponsored membership initiative to artists, curators, arts educators, and cultural practitioners. Inspired by our partnership with Maven Leadership Collective, which every year provides 20 memberships to queer and trans people of color and allies, we are growing this effort to ensure more workers in the arts have deeper access to a network of emerging patrons and collectors. If you would like to sponsor a membership, you can make a direct impact here. If you’re an arts worker, please apply here.

Collaboration will continue to center and underpin Commissioner’s offerings. Members can look forward to programming that uplifts organizations doing the work year-round and conversations in spaces of people living with art. Learning in smaller groups and intimate settings are ways we see folks developing enriching relationships that carry beyond the program. Five years from now, how many artists will have been supported, ideas come to life, and friendships forged as a result of the connections seeded here?

Look forward to ongoing opportunities that reconnect past and current members—everyone from Seasons One through Six—with commissioned artists and collaborators. Earlier this year, we hosted a studio visit with Morel Doucet (Season Three) to preview works for his solo show in Baltimore. More recently, we co-presented a performance by A.G. (Season Two), gifting members signed copies of INTERMISSION, which was accessioned into the Museum of Modern Art’s archives. As stewards of these artists’ practices, how are we all supporting their journeys long-term?

Leaning into local art tours and travel, we will visit more of Miami and cities across North America. This includes walking tours in South Florida; regional visits to West Palm Beach and Sarasota; and travel to Detroit, Mexico City, Montreal, and New York. We are dedicated to making these trips accessible and will find ways to subsidize costs or provide tiered pricing when possible. Are you ready to experience broader communities through the lens of the arts?

Thank you, Community.
