Podcast with eunice bélidor, a collaboration with alcove
For us, the conversation started in March with this article in Hyperallergic. But for curator eunice bélidor, the story has always been about who she is and what she stands for.
As part of Commissioner’s visit to Montreal in July, we had the joy of partnering with alcove to host an in-person talk with eunice, led by Rosie Gordon-Wallace, Miami-based curator and founder of Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator. Diane Gistal of Nigra Iuventa facilitated the lively, bilingual talkback session with a packed house of visitors and locals alike.
eunice is a Montreal-based Adjunct Professor with the Department of Art History at Concordia University. In her current practice, she looks at questioning as a method and the intersection of care, feminism, and race. She has previously held positions at Articule, the Fofa Gallery at Concordia University, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
alcove is an intimate conversation series, featuring visionaries making their mark on the universe through talent, boldness, and an appetite for making the impossible possible. Like Commissioner, alcove is nomadic: Each micro-conference dwells in a different yet intentional space, bringing audiences and speakers together in unconventional venues around their cities.
Sincere gratitude to our speakers, community, WILLS Beer, dedicated team, Ingrid Enriquez-Donissaint, and photographer Darwin Doleyres.
