HERE & NOW with Miami Light Project

We’re so excited about the upcoming project from Miami Light Project, Here & Now that we wanted to share a bit more more about the program. A signature commission program for Miami-based artists, Here & Now: 2019 will feature newly commissioned work from Miami’s freshest and most exciting emerging artists, who are working across disciplines to define contemporary performance in Miami.

About Here & Now

Miami Light Project Launched Here & Now in 1999, as the first program of its kind in South Florida dedicated to commissioning and presenting South Florida-based performance and multi-media artists. Since its inception, we have commissioned work from more than 75 South Florida-based artists, laying the foundation for Miami’s reputation as a cultural center of international importance. Over 30 of those artists have gone on to perform that work in 14 states and 15 countries for an estimated audience of over 20,000 people worldwide.

About Miami Light Project

Founded in 1989, Miami Light Project is a not-for-profit cultural organization which presents live performances by innovative dance, music and theater artists from around the world. It also supports the development of new work by South Florida-based artists and offers educational programs for students of every age. Simply put, Miami Light Project is a cultural forum to explore some of the issues that define contemporary society.

Founder Beth Boone has been a champion for Commissioner since Day 1 and she is amazing at outreach, partnering with other arts organizations, universities and social service agencies to reach a diverse cross-section of communities throughout Miami-Dade County. Just this year Miami Light Project has hosted the Global Cuba Fest, AIR at The Light Box, and ScreenDance Miami.
