The Rice Hotel in Downtown Miami, a two-story historic structure built in 1914, was left vacant for decades until artist Fared Manzur took residence to establish his own studio and presentation space. Visiting this space, we began to reflect on stewardship: What gets preserved? What holds value? What does stewardship truly mean?
On Saturday, February 8 at 1 PM, we invite you into the overlooked and underknown art spaces of Downtown Miami. Our first stop is The Rice Hotel with Fared. Then, at 1:45 PM, we’ll take a ten-minute walk to the Miami-Dade Public Library for a visit with Oscar A. Fuentes, multidisciplinary artist and Library Exhibitions and Programming Specialist. Perhaps you’ve seen the Ed Rusha paintings in the rotunda of the building’s entrance, but have you heard of The Secret Reading Room?
Join us for a magical afternoon exploring places hidden in plain sight.
Tour is limited to 20 people and open to all members with RSVP.
