It’s with a spirit of radical imagination and exploration that we’re thrilled to announce Beatriz Monteavaro is the first commissioned artist of Commissioner Season Six.
Decoding, metaphor, monsters, science fiction and fantasy are big themes with Beatriz. Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, she is an artist and musician, and received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. Beatriz has exhibited at The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C; Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris; and The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum at Florida International University. Solo exhibitions include Las Cienegas Projects, Los Angeles; Derek Eller Gallery, New York; and Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, to name a few.
Beatriz is also a two-time recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award. Now, on the heels of her participation in the seminal SFCC show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, we can’t wait to dive deeper into her fantastical world. Get ready for the very first reveal of the season!
This event is for Commissioner Collectors, Patrons, and Alumni. All are welcome to bring one guest.
Collectors: Can't stay for the event, but want to pick up your artwork from the venue? Just email us at hello@commissioner.us to make arrangements. Alternatively, courier deliveries are $40 and will take place the week of November 20.
As always, grateful to partners Tito’s Handmade Vodka, New Belgium Brewing, and Liquid Death for their support and the hydration.
Parking
The Venetian Pool has two parking lots in front of the facility. One is facility-adjacent, and the other is across from the entrance gate by the De Soto Fountain roundabout. Please do not park in the grass. If you are unable to find parking in these locations, you may park at Salvadore Park, less than half a mile from the pool. As always, we encourage carpooling when possible.
