Miami Art Week is one of the most exciting times of the year for art lovers in our city and worldwide. With so many events and exhibitions, deciding what to attend can be overwhelming.

Below is an overview of our Commissioner program, featuring select fairs and events. For the most adventurous of us, we’ve also included a link to our annual monster guide highlighting over 100 offerings, and organized in collaboration with Dainy Tapia of ArtSeen365 and Heike Dempster.

Enjoy breakfast on the iconic YoungArts campus, followed by a walkthrough of the studios of artists Nina Osoria Ahmadi, Priscilla Aleman, Dani Amaro and Alberto Checa, led by MoMA PS1 Director Connie Butler. Afterward, guests are invited to experience two video works by multidisciplinary creative and past YoungArts guest artist Ralph Lemon, never before shown in the gallery context. RSVP here.

A procession that begins inside the Untitled Art tent will move toward the ocean sands at the entrance of the Untitled Art tent. Uplifting the communal practice of call and response, Loni's work prompts a larger dialogue on visibility and Blackness. Performance takes place at the entrance of Untitled Art. Much like a river carves its path, Flowing Pathways invites viewers to reflect on their journeys and the experiences that shape them. The installation features interconnected geometric frames that evoke urban structures alongside shapes reminiscent of rivers and waterways. RSVP at jweinbe1@mdc.edu.

This year’s tours will be led by local Miami-based artist and educator Lauren Baccus, and will focus on fresh voices, first-time exhibitors, and compelling dialogues across movements, junctures, and geographies. Access the fair with your pass, guided tours are $35.

This is a homecoming for Miami-based photographer and artist Anastasia Samoylova. Following recent openings at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Paris Photo, Anastasia returns to the sunshine state that inspired her for an artist talk and book signing. No RSVP required.


SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8
1—3 PM | Body Time by BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) x Commissioner

Begin with a tour of BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) with Curators and Co-Directors Jasmine Wahi and Rebecca Pauline Jampol at PAMM Beach alongside Biscayne Bay. Exhibiting in a 27-foot truck, this gallery features works by 120 artists, including Mickalene Thomas, Marilyn Minter, and Barbara Kruger. Following the tour, meet Commissioner Season Seven artist Antonia Wright in the gallery for an intimate introduction to her installation State of Labor. End the afternoon with a healing sound bath led by transdisciplinary artist Agua Dulce and spiritual practitioner Sayje Hewitt, providing an essential space to gather, grieve, and ground ourselves and each other. RSVP here.
