On Saturday, July 11 from 10 AM-noon, join Commissioner and PAMM Free Second Saturdays for “Get Your Art On”, virtual artmaking with artists Jahaira Ríos Campos y Gálvez (photography) and Kira Tippenhauer (ceramics). Open to all, we’re celebrating Commissioner’s season finale and are together reimagining ways to bring people together, creatively and in community.
First: Register on Zoom https://bit.ly/seasontwofinale.
Can’t decide which workshop to participate in? Join both!
10-11 AM | In a photo transfer workshop led by Jahaira Ríos Campos y Gálvez, experiment with image transfers by using photographs found at home and transferring them to interesting new surfaces. Create unique collages or use this technique to transform your images into watercolor paintings.
11 AM-noon | In a clay-inspired workshop with Kira Tippenhauer, behold The Venus of Willendhorf—one of the world’s oldest works of art. Due to The Venus’s small size it has been suggested that she is a good luck and a mother goddess symbol.
Then: Prepare your materials
For your session with Jahaira, print out images you like to create your composite using a few items from home. For the clay-inspired workshop with Kira, make your own clay using household items and kitchen ingredients or buy some at your local art supplies store.
Check out the list of suggested materials at www.commissioner.us/stories/artmaking.
And Then: Get Your Art On
The workshops will run from 10 AM-noon as follows:
10 AM Introductions
10:05 AM Workshop #1 - Photo Transfer Aesthetic with Jahaira Ríos Campos y Gálvez
10:55 AM Intermission (5 minutes)
11 AM Introductions
11:05 AM Workshop #2 - Sculpt a Good Luck Charm with Kira Tippenhauer
Noon Fin!
